At Sustainable Cycles we care passionately about the state of our planet and are always interested in looking at solutions to lighten our impact.
Did you know that the average woman in western society will throw away 10,000 to 15,000 disposable pads or tampons in her lifetime? That’s 250 to 300 pounds each! The plastics used do not decompose for years and years to come.
Sustainable Cycles reusable pads can be hand washed or machine washed, hung to dry or tossed in the dryer. They are made to last for years, and when they do finally end up in the landfill their natural materials will decompose with less stress on the environment.
Plastic tampon applicators are one of the most common pieces of trash to wash up on north American shore lines. When our co-founder Lauren went to Nova Scotia, she went looking for treasures washed up on the shore: among the plastic, Styrofoam, rope and rubber bands, she found 7 tampons in a 10 foot radius in a matter of minutes.
Without any excess packaging and only a reusable carrying bag, both reusable menstrual cups, like the diva cup and reusable organic pads use less plastic and have a lighter footprint on Earth.
